How facilitation can impact inclusivity
As facilitators we are responsible for choosing how the conversations unfold. We can follow a strict model or go with the flow. Those choices are informed by who we are and our assessments of the group’s needs. And there are a lot of factors at play in choosing a conversation model.
During this event, the focus will be on the links between conversation modalities and the manifestations of power dynamics.
- Who is being heard, or not?
- Who has a voice, and why?
- Who is being included in the conversation, and how?
If we want more inclusive and diverse spaces, as facilitators, it is our responsibility to be aware of the impact of our designs. Let us take some time to reflect together and explore what is possible.
