Developing an Indigenous Informed Facilitation Practice – A Story for Our Time

September 13 @ 11:00 pm - September 14 @ 1:00 am CEST

This workshop is the story of a journey of cross-cultural endeavour that began almost twenty years ago.

With my colleague Dr Helen Ritchie we made a pact: that if we were to bring the Technology of Participation Facilitative Leadership Program training courses to Aotearoa New Zealand, we adapt them to become bicultural.

The process led us to a partnership with Te Mauri Tau, a Māori education organisation, and later to work with Australasian Facilitators Network (AFN) facilitators both indigenous and non-indigenous exploring how facilitators might develop better cultural awareness and practice.

Out of this work AFN developed a resource for facilitators: we will be using this resource in this hands-on workshop.

In sharing how our journey has shaped our facilitation practice and training program, we hope this session broadens your horizons, gives you a healthy sense of challenge, and that you leave with something you can practically do to further develop yourself as an indigenous-informed facilitator.
